I was very blessed to listen to “Only a Holy God” (originally by CityAlight) at the 2019 Summer Bible Conference on August 18. It helped me to understand God’s love more. When our choir sung, “Come and be holy…” I saw God, not demanding, but warmly calling me to me the wonderful life of holiness.
Throughout the song, God showed me the power of holiness: a glory that consumes like fire; the only power that can raise the dead; what keeps one from being undefeated. Of course, the emphasis is “Who else…?” I am encouraged and strengthened that by pouring out myself in prayer and by serving “only a Holy God” that I will overcome all the obstacles in my life, character, and mission on my campus.
It was a tender way to almost end the conference (Shepherd Ty Rothrock’s message and testimony based on 1 Kings 19 helped it to end strong as well).
As usual, Like the video to show your support (Subscribe if you have not already). And most importantly, listen to the words. Come and be holy.
Thank God for giving me this amazing conference where I could personally experience him. Even though I was powerless, I could have power through him. Even though I was helpless, I could receive his help. I pray that all students who attended this conference may hear God’s gentle whisper.
It’s great to hear that u were blessed by the song. We weren’t able to practice much. So much so that we hadn’t even memorized the lyrics…Even when it came time to sing it we were off key at a few parts. Praise God that he used it and blessed it. Ha.
I was very much touched by this song as well…All of the messages and everything at the conference was perfect. Praise God.
This song was truly amazing. Not only because of the lyrics, but because when I heard it, God brought me before him to understand what it must be like for the thousands upon thousands who worship him daily. In that moment God helped me see his beauty and blessed I am to be given a chance to live a life before Him where i get to experience this not just once, but daily when I choose to come before the Holy God. May God bless us to truly experience his beauty and love this year!
